In Doing Things Incorrectly Beckers explains why he seldom takes other people's advice. He argues that it's because it's often impossible to know the validity of advice. He therefor does not take the advice from his two friends about goat's milk and dishwashing. Instead he presents them and the audience with a simple thumb trick. A piece of advice whose consequences are obvious and clear: .
“So both of these friends at some point gave me some advice. Because according to them I was doing something wrong. And they could be right about that. I’ve spent the last ten years of my life discovering that for the first twenty years of my life, I did a lot of things incorrectly.”
